Ahead of his Homecoming tour supported by Jeremy Loops, ZIGGY ALBERTS caps off biggest year yet with latest single ‘CYCLONES’.
2025 has been a landmark year for Australian singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts. Following the release of his latest album New Love in February, which has already surpassed 30 million streams in just six months, and a monumental 105-date world tour that included sold-out shows across Europe, North America, and a packed Royal Albert Hall in London, Ziggy is closing out the year with a vibrant new single, Cyclones, out today via Commonfolk Records.
Blending his signature lyrical vulnerability with a fresh, atmospheric folk-pop sound, Cyclones is an energetic and heartfelt track that captures the essence of summer and marks a bold evolution in Ziggy’s artistry. The song reflects his introspective songwriting and personal journey. Ziggy explains:
“This song first landed on my lap in Fiji on a surf trip in 2024. I raced back from coffee, and managed to catch it then and there. It’s so easy to blame the weather for our own stormy lives. I know I do it all the time. It’s looking back and seeing old habits still being true. And thinking that, it doesn’t matter if things weren’t going to last forever, it’s just asking myself – did I really do enough? Or did I just walk away like I always do? It’s about being attracted to chaos, like a moth to a flame; you know it’s a mess in the making but you can’t help it sometimes.”
With over 1.3 billion global streams, multiple ARIA Platinum and Gold certifications, and three APRA Awards for Most Performed Blues & Roots Work, Ziggy Alberts stands as one of Australia’s most successful independent artists. His breakout hit Runaway has now topped 117 million Spotify streams, earning 3× Platinum in Australia and Gold in Canada, while fan favourites like Love Me Now, Laps Around the Sun (3× Platinum), and Gone(2× Platinum) continue to define his journey from street busker to global touring artist.

Ziggy’s international touring footprint continues to expand, with recent sold-out theatre runs across Germany, debut performances in Brazil and Mexico, and continued success in Europe, the UK, North America, South America, and Southeast Asia.
His upcoming Homecoming tour will see Ziggy hitting some of the biggest stages of his career in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne later next month, including his first ever arena show at Margaret Court Arena. The tour will be entirely all ages, and will promote Ziggy’s commitment to the Green Touring Initiative – an initiative founded by Ziggy, that focuses on reducing environmental impact, educating fans on local causes, and giving back to the communities that host these special shows. Ziggy will be joined by South African singer-songwriter Jeremy Loops on all dates, with Sydney’s The Beautiful Girls jumping on the Brisbane and Melbourne legs, & Azure Ryder opening up the show in Sydney.
“I’m beyond stoked to return to Australia after all this time, and to be joining Ziggy for these homecoming shows means a lot. When we met in South Africa it was like meeting a kindred spirit – same passion for acoustic music, the ocean, and simple truth. I can’t wait to share those moments with new ears down under.”

Cyclones doesn’t just close out a record-breaking year, it also signals the beginning of Ziggy Alberts’ next chapter: bolder production, deeper songwriting, and the same unwavering independence that has powered his rise from busking on the streets to the world stage.

Lutho Pasiya, Independent Media (SA)
“Alberts has proven time and again that his back-to-basics approach to production and songwriting has left him one of the most reliably authentic artists on the scene.”
Pop Wrapped (US)
“[New Love is] an upbeat folk song with a lively foot-stomping rhythm that just begs you to get up and dance. Perfectly tailored for the crowds on the Aussie songwriter’s upcoming world tour.”
Rolling Stone Australia
“For fans who’ve been following Ziggy’s career from day dot, his increasing popularity wouldn’t come as a shock. To everyone else, the Ziggy story is probably still something of a surprise. He’s a self-made success, and it’s a grassroots swell plenty of people are getting behind”

ZIGGY ALBERTS BIO
June 2025
Ziggy Alberts has built a dedicated global following through a powerful combination of captivating songwriting, persistent touring, and a fiercely independent ethos. His journey from busking on the streets of Byron Bay to commanding sold-out world stages as a solo artist stands as a testament to authentic connection and musical craftsmanship.
With over 1 billion streams across his discography, Alberts has firmly established himself as a folk powerhouse. Hits like “Runaway” – surpassing 100 million Spotify streams and achieving ARIA Triple Platinum status, Gold Status in Canada – and “Love Me Now” have resonated with audiences worldwide. His impressive collection of accolades includes ARIA Triple Platinum for “Laps Around The Sun,” Double Platinum for fan favourites “Days In The Sun,” “Gone,” and the EP “Four Feet In The Forest,” plus multiple Gold certifications and three APRA Music Awards for Most Performed Blues and Roots Work.
What truly sets Alberts apart is his unwavering commitment to independence. Rather than signing with a major label, he established his own music company, Commonfolk, allowing him complete creative control and the freedom to forge his own path in the industry. This pioneering approach has made him an inspiration for artists seeking alternatives to traditional music business models.
Alberts’ touring resume demonstrates his work ethic and global appeal. His performances across Australia, Europe, the UK, North America, South America and South East Asia have transformed from intimate venues to major headline sets, including standout appearances at Bluesfest, Bonnaroo, Fuji Rock and Splendour in the Grass. His recent tours have seen him play to over 110,000 fans at headline shows, sell out London’s Royal Albert Hall six months in advance, pack houses in Germany with crowds of 3,500+, and make impressive international debuts in Brazil and Mexico.
His seventh studio album, ‘New Love,’ represents his most refined project yet. Divided between a warm, folk-inspired Side A and a more expansive rock-and-country-influenced Side B, the album mirrors life’s inherent duality. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Garrett Kato, the album embraces an organic, minimalist approach that preserves the raw emotion of each track. Singles like “New Love,” “Outlaw,” and the introspective “Where Does The Love Go?” offer glimpses into Alberts’ musical and personal evolution while maintaining the acoustic charm and emotional resonance that first captured his audience’s hearts.
Ziggy Alberts offers a rich tapestry of sun-soaked folk that explores themes of love, self-discovery, and the pursuit of freedom and joy. His commitment to direct connection with his audience has built not just a fan base but a community united across continents by his music and message.
