ABFAB duo achieves global and local success with two smashing summer hits and lands opening slots for two major international concerts in Cape Town.
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS DUO, affectionately now known as ABFAB, stands as one of Cape Town’s most sought-after live bands, setting the benchmark for high-energy entertainment. Comprising the formidable talents of Lisa ‘MYNX’ Hugo on lead vocals and Sean ‘STYX’ Nunan on drums, this duo delivers an unparalleled musical experience.
With nearly 14 years together and over 2600 gigs under their belt, ABFAB is ever on the more and has released two brand new singles in September and October, titled “Wake Up!” and “Tequila Nights.” Signed to LAB Records in the Netherlands, these smash-hit singles have been picked up by various local and international radio stations.
“Wake Up” captures the band`s signature pop rock sound and Dutch DJ-producer remixes, combining energetic instrumentation with Lisa`s commanding and soulful vocals. The song`s core message is one of hope and action, urging listeners to seize the day and live their lives to the fullest. For Sean and Lisa the song is a reflection of their journey and the energy they pour into every gig. “We`ve always believed that music has the power to move people and make them feel alive”, says Sean. “The song is our way of reminding everyone to truly wake up and appreciate the gift of life.”
“We wanted to write a song that’s pure fun, something that gets everyone on their feet and ready to party,” says Lisa Mynx Hugo about the second single Tequila Nights. “It’s a tribute to those great nights out and the amazing energy we feel with our fans.”
Both singles were produced by Brad Grobler (Big Productions) and have being released internationally by Lab Records (NL) in The Netherlands.
Global Recognition:
ABFAB has achieved significant international milestones since August 2025. They are the Featured Artist of the Week on Los Angeles’ Breaking Sound Radio and have secured a distribution and promotion deal in New York City, targeting Sirius XM and Campus Radio. ABFAB also has airplay on Amazing Radio in both the UK and USA, including 15 UK airplays and a feature on BBC Introducing. In Europe, their track “Wake Up” was picked up by 23 Dutch radio stations via Diggipluggen, with confirmed airplay in France, Spain, Belgium, and Portugal. This global reach is further supported by influential Spotify playlist placements in Brazil, Australia, and the USA.
International Promotions are now underway for “Tequila Nights,” which features official remixes from international DJs. These achievements highlight ABFAB’s readiness to also make a major impact in South Africa.

They will be opening for The Gypsy Kings on 16 November at De Grendel, and is also an opening act also for the Boney-M Concert at the same venue on 21 December and at Stanford Hills Estate on 20 December.
