Los Angeles, CA. – Stefan Strychar, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist out of Detroit, MI., is the founder of the alt rock band A Modern Armada has a new single and video, “Annihilation” dropping September 5, 2025.
Stefan says, “Annihilation”, was a song born out of frustration with the current trajectory of everyday life. The last few years seem unsustainable – a boiling point is on the horizon and approaching faster and faster. This song serves as a call to arms, a plea to think for yourself and be true to yourself.”
Stefan’s new album Retaliation is Newtonian is described as a throwback to music and lyrics that mattered. Stefan has created rock music with a hint of anti-consumerism and deviation from the norm. “I don’t think I’d label it as “angry” but perhaps a bit “agitated”, he says, “and hoping to inspire at least one person to start looking inward and realizing that one person can make a difference.”

All of the songs on A Modern Armada’s new album are semi-autobiographical, as Stefan likes to pull from experiences in his life. He also finds inspiration and solace from the words of others such as references or direct quotes from various sources including Kurt Vonnegut, Dashiell Hammett, and Lord Byron.
You won’t find Stefan naming any artists he considers “musical hero’s”, but rather he’s drawn to those he considers doing more with less he says. “The White Stripes making a wall of sound with two members, or The Police, where every album was amazing and all three members were masters of their respective instruments and everything they played was worthy of studying. The Doors for sheer genius of music and lyrics.”
Stefan is very specific on what he hopes listeners take away from Retaliation is Newtonian, “I hope it finds them in a time and place where it scratches a metaphorical itch in the right, most satisfying way.”
Stefan is working right now with Masterdisk to get the album mastered and Third Man Records to have it put out on vinyl. In addition, he is writing new songs and lyrics, finding doing so creates two different feelings for him, “Every album I put out is so cathartic and exhausting that I swear it’s the last one, but a week or two later I’ll write a new lyric or riff and just like any addiction I’ll say OK one more can’t hurt, so we’ll see what 2026 brings!”
