Stefan Strychar, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist out of Detroit, MI., is the founder of the alt rock band A Modern Armada and has a new single and video, “Annihilation” dropping September 5, 2025. 

Stefan says, “Annihilation”, was a song born out of frustration with the current trajectory of everyday life. The last few years seem unsustainable – a boiling point is on the horizon and approaching faster and faster. This song serves as a call to arms, a plea to think for yourself and be true to yourself.”

I gave ‘Annihilation’ a listen and this is what my thoughts were:

‘Annihilation’ is a great typical alternative rock track which is my kind of music lol. Good guitar work and vocals with meaningful lyrics many people can relate to. We live in difficult times with war, famine, poverty and unemployment across the world. You can’t help but think global annihilation is upon us. You get “stuck” in your own head with fears and before you know it you’re “obsessing” about it like during Covid. This is what the music video illustrates so beautifully – you only having “tunnel vision”.

But there’s light at the end of the tunnel (“you don’t have to take this”) – you’re not alone in this (“it’s not your fate to be the last one that remains”). You are the only one that can help yourself. Get out of your head and do something productive or be creative – anything to get you back to reality (“the answer lies in you and you alone”).

The title may seem all doom and gloom lol but I think the song actually gives you hope. Don’t worry about the things you can’t change – just try your best. Don’t think about the future too much because it will drive you insane lol. Take it one day at a time, and be yourself because life is too short to try and be like someone else.
