His new single, Fight Fire with a Flame was born from a series of profound upheavals and hardships in his life journey and sketches, among other things, confrontations with flashes from the past. The storyline unfolds with surprising twists and turns and contains elements of emotional captivity, fear, despair, false comfort, lies and the liberating power of truth. The song was written by Christian John Reynierse and Byron Kuntz and arranged by Johan Rautenbach. Its interpretation is poignant, honest and profound – a universal message that ends in a celebration of victory, hope, perseverance and faith.

Christian John is not a stage name. These are the names written on the singer’s birth certificate. “Everyone knows me as Stiaan Reynierse – the name with the cautious red flags at the end. Yet, if it weren’t for the red flags, I would never have been able to understand, explore or change my mistakes, fears or freedom. ‘Christian John’ is a kind of metaphor with which I try to explain ‘change’ without forgetting ‘Stiaan’. The face is still the same, but the eyes are slightly different… ”, the singer explains from a place that could make any thinker drown in his own head. “I didn’t suddenly become a ‘softie’ or undergo a personality change because I sing under a new name. Fight Fire with a Flame is without doubt a ‘Christian John-thing’. Real, like my real name. I declared war on the things that devour my peace and the firestorms that destroyed me for so long…”
The new single, Fight Fire with a Flame, not only reflects the singer’s fiery nature, but also carries qualities of perseverance and bravery. That’s why the title fits extremely well. “No water can put out the fires inside. If water doesn’t work, you have to fight back with fire. I’ve played with it long enough to know that only fire can put out fire. There’s no way around the flames. You’ll never come out fireproof on the other side if you shy away from the truth.”
Stiaan was literally on the brink of death and the chances of him seeing his children grow up were slim. The look in Christian John’s eyes is definitely different than before. “My quota was used up. My cards were finished… I was saved by the bell…”

Christian John – Short Biography.
Stiaan was born in Middelburg, Mpumalanga as Christian John Reynierse. At a young age, he already revealed his talent and was a member of the Mpumalanga Prestige choir and orchestra before later landing on the stages of the country’s biggest stages. He debuted in 2016 with his first full-length album ‘Sonde’ and received several awards and nominations for it. He quickly earned the country’s full attention with his version of ‘Voshaarnooi’ in the movie ‘Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling’. In 2018, he shook audiences out of their seats with his Pearl Jam tribute performance, followed by a few singles, before his next album, ‘Anderkant die Reën’ was released in 2024 after a long silence. Stiaan’s complex journey and experiences lead him to a brand new and exceptional single, Fight Fire with a Flame, under the name Christian John.
