Johannesburg, South Africa – 11 July 2025 – South African rock band Prime Circle have released their explosive new music video for “Renegade”—the high-energy album opener, now available on YouTube.
Renegade is an empowering anthem that channels the journey from pain into power—rejecting manipulation (“I won’t be your puppet”), declaring rebirth (“I’ve now become the renegade”), and celebrating self-sufficiency (“brave enough to stand alone”). Filmed during their 2025 European tour, the video offers an unfiltered look at life on the road, perfectly mirroring the song’s anthemic call to break free. Directed by Germany’s Chris Güthlein, the visual captures sweat-drenched performances alongside rare behind-the-scenes moments.

“Renegade” has earned international praise, with Powerplay Magazine (UK) calling it “a catchy, hugely enjoyable, fun modern alternative rocker full of energy with fab vocals from Gavin Edwards.” The track follows the success of the album’s single “What We Got,” which received airplay on 32 South African radio stations and generating over 38 million impacts (Radiomonitor). Its reach spans commercial and community radio, from adult contemporary to youth formats, highlighting the band’s rare ability to resonate across generations. “It’s the sound of so many South Africans saying, ‘We’re with you,’” says guitarist Dirk Bisschoff, whose signature riffs have shaped Prime Circle’s sound since 2001—who’s never taken a single audience for granted.
Vocalist Gavin Edwards, who joined in 2024, reflects on the journey so far:
“Seventeen months in for me—we’ve released a 10-track album, toured our incredible home country, played shows in Dubai, Europe, Namibia, and Portugal, filmed five videos, and stood in front of crowds singing every word—and I’m incredibly grateful for it all. This video shows the real work behind those magic moments. It’s a testament to this journey.”
Keyboardist Neil Breytenbach adds:
“To everyone who turned our ‘rise against’ into your own battle cry—this video is your story too.”
The album, produced by longtime German collaborator Timon Seidl and engineered by SA’s Howie Combrink, The World We Know captures Prime Circle at their peak—blending stadium-sized hooks with raw, introspective songwriting.
