Shirley Callaghan is an amazing singer-songwriter from Ireland, who writes beautiful, sometimes haunting, but always amazing songs that I find so great. Whenever she releases something new, I look forward to hearing it because I know it’s going to be amazing
It sounds to me like ‘It Will Be Burned’ is about a person who has been in a toxic relationship. In my mind I can see a woman burning photographs of them. It’s her way of dealing with her disappointment and saying goodbye to the memories, bad and good. “All you thought you knew” about love “will be burned”. She thought love is like in the fairytales but it’s not, “honey”. They said “love more, think less” but in reality love is a “dangerous game”.

The track starts with a calming acoustic guitar but ends with an electric guitar making you hear her anger. She’s angry that things didn’t turn out the way she thought it would. It can be applied to any aspect of your life. You’ve maybe dreamt about being very successful in the corporate world, having a big house or driving a fancy car. But life had other plans for you.
There is hope. Things happen for a reason. You are right where you are supposed to be in life, whether you like it or not lol. You can’t choose the cards you’ve been dealt but you can choose how you play.
A track that is eye opening but brings healing at the same time. Congrats Shirley on another great one!
